A Happy, Energetic and Eye-Catching Color
When it comes to the healing power of color we know that a certain color has the ability to soothe your frazzled nerves, empower you to take action, and also to bring healing energy when you need it. As Wassily Kandinsky proclaimed, “Color hides a power still unknown but real, which acts on every part of the human body.” In this presentation, several of The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS online gallery artist members celebrate the color orange in a variety of sizes, subjects, styles and mediums. We are delighted to show the art of several members who responded to our call to share their art with this color and provide statements. This is one in a series of online exhibitions that spotlight the healing power of color by artist members.
A Few Facts About the Color Orange
“Meules”, a painting by Claude Monet, may immediately spring to mind when we think of the color orange. Van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec are two other artists who favored this color. The bold and dynamic color orange is considered by many to be a happy, energetic and eye-catching color. In some cultures, it’s considered to be a sacred hue, while in others it’s a symbol of royalty. Since ancient times this color has had a strong impact. Orange is known for stimulating creativity and also the appetite. Orange is a favorite color of many children.

Art and Statements About the Color Orange
Orange is the color of joy and creativity. Orange promotes a sense of general wellness and emotional energy that should be shared. Sunsets have always provided me with this atmospheric emotion.

Early morning twilight dazzles my senses reminding of the reoccurring blessings each new day can bring. In this memory I was up early on my sailboat, in a safe harbour, sipping a hot beverage enjoying the full color drama of the new day unfolding.

For the past ten years, I have been photographing the yearly Tulip Festival in Albany, NY. I always feel like a kid in a candy-store when surrounded by this wonderland of color. The red-orange tulips are my favorites, and I have photographed them every year. In this photograph, they provide an exciting background for dark violet tulips with their bright green stems. This burst of color is thrilling to me.
Renata Bosnjak
In “Waiting”, I depicted the one being in the painting to be waiting for her lover and I chose a main color to symbolize her emotion: orange. However, this color not only accentuates the determination of said woman but also highlights the dress itself as the waves of the setting sun melting over the sea. She is the sun and the warmth never leaves, but rests, only to glow again in pursuit of another day.

There’s a dewy pause when one rouses from slumber, an intermission that offers a sublime pocket of perception. It’s as if a secret space emerges right before full thoughts are formed or needed. Feelings and awareness vacillate between colors and light. Warms, cools, oranges, and blues billow through the soul and fill it with insight and inspiration for the coming day.

I loved the vibrant colors. The colors become more important than the flowers themselves.
