My story is on a much smaller scale than those I have read recently, however, I feel it is still a valid story of how art can and does help us heal and deal with the struggles of poor health. I have lived with chronic illness and pain for over 25 years, and I have found art to be a place of refuge and healing. A way to escape and It is a great distraction when the pain is at it’s worst.
I don’t have any heroic stories of how I use art to help others, but it does help me, and I share my story with others that are going through really hard times. I tell them that they too can find some relief in the beautiful distraction of creating art. Does this fit the criteria you are looking for?

Brenda, thank you for your interest in sharing your story about art and healing. At this time we’re seeking articles from artists who are involved in creating art programs, nonprofits, and similar endeavors for art and healing. Your watercolors are so beautiful and positive that I hope you will consider submitting it to our future online art exhibitions. And, congratulations for having Watercolor magazine select your artwork for its back cover.
