About Julia Underwood: Julia Underwood creates vibrant paintings with rich colors and rhythmic forms that evoke feelings of bliss and tranquility. They transport viewers to positive mental states. Her awe-inspiring paintings portray idyllic worlds of hope and promise.
She works mainly in acrylic and watercolor. The artist enjoys having the diversity and challenge between detailed and sometimes miniature work with large flowing abstract art. She also create commissioned works of art for buyers who may choose from ordering from her “Portraits”, “Abstracts” and “Feng Shui” collections.
Julia has studied extensively on the philosophy of Feng Shui. She now focuses on painting Feng Shui Art. She has also created a section on her website where she shares her knowledge about Feng Shui and how you may use it when choosing artwork for your home.
She informs us, “Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice which creates harmony in your surroundings to enhance your happiness, health and prosperity. Sometimes we make use of its principles without knowing their origins. For example, you may have heard a lot about clutter clearing recently. This is part of the Feng Shui philosophy.”
Julia Underwood grew up in Cambridgeshire, UK and studied Art and Design at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology. After a successful career in IT she returned to her first love of painting 10 years ago and created Jewells Art.
She exhibited most recently at the Newmarket Arts & Crafts Fair and The Steel Rooms Gallery in Brigg having moved to Lincoln UK.

Julia Underwood’s Artist’s Statement: “What if the things we surround ourselves with affect our state of mind and can lift and inspire us or pull us down? I believe they can and do, the images and colours we see every day change how we feel, influencing our emotions and wellbeing. So, although I paint in a range of styles my work is always positive and hopeful. I enjoy creating relaxing and uplifting artwork inspired by nature and gorgeous vibrant colours.”
Interesting Fact about Julia Underwood: “For the last 4 years I’ve been building a house with my partner and am now an expert on the 3 Ds – Dust, DIY and Decorating. Thankfully we are nearly finished, have a real sense of achievement and are never doing it again.”
