About Diane Fleisch Hughes: Diane Fleisch Hughes is a non-representational figurative artist. She has shown her work nationally and internationally and is in private collections around the world. She allows the setting of her subject to dictate color and texture of her mixed media paintings, including natural found elements and various art media. Her distinctive style is a perfect blend of realism with abstraction to convey profound insight into many aspects about the human experience.
Diane is also a nationally board-certified Art Therapist and licensed Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio. She works with special needs children to allow them to express themselves and tell their story though art since they may struggle verbally. As a working artist, Diane also uses her art to express her feelings, whether it is about what is happening in her own environment or as a response to what she witnesses through therapy with clients.
Diane’s art has been included in many national and international exhibitions. She had a solo show in January of 2023 at the Mercyhurst College Gallery in Erie, Pennsylvania. Her art has been featured in Spotlight magazine and Studio Visit magazine. She was selected for articles presented by Manhattan Arts International and The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS such as “Women Artists Who Help Others Heal Through Art” and “Artists from The Spirit of Resilience Exhibition Who Are World Changers” Her art was chosen for “The Healing Power of Color” 2022 Exhibition and video on the Manhattan Arts International Youtube channel.

Diane Fleisch Hughes’s Artist’s Statement: I am a figurative artist, fascinated by the psychology of the human spirit and emotions, how one encompasses resilience and strength throughout their life. During the past three years, I dove headfirst into the study of abstract art, wanting to learn how to tell a story through line and color, without trying to be representational about a confusing, abstract time. In the end I could not help but combine the two. I believe that most people feel they are good and are trying to do the right thing, even if their viewpoint is vastly different than those around them. The angel series looks at the individuals desire to be an “angel” in a difficult, turbulent time.
Fascinating Fact About Diane Fleisch Hughes: I love to travel! As a professor in a local college graduate program, we take graduate Art THerapy& Counseling students to do service work in other countries. I have been to El Salvador, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Peru, with an upcoming trip to Nepal. It is, in my opinion, the best education one can receive.

I have known of Diane’s talents for many years. She is constantly evolving, yet has always stayed true to her style. She HAS to draw humans! I think every subject she puts on paper or canvas has assisted her in her growth and understanding of other humans. I am sure it has helped her in her therapy work. Myself and our 4 children are so happy that others are seeing the healing beauty her artwork brings. We all hope it will inspire you, as much as it does us!
